EDUCATION, LICENSES & ADDITIONAL TRAINING

  • Completion of a trade apprenticeship program in welding may be required – CWB – AWB
  • Forklift certified an asset
  • Crane/Forklift certified an asset
  • Completion of secondary school education is required

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years work experience welding MIG & TIG in all positions, ARC gas metal arc GMAW, Flux-cored arc FAW, shielded metal arc SMAW
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate Brazing and soldering equipment
  • Operate metal sharpening machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints
  • Read and interpret weld symbols
  • Utilize tape measure in metric and imperial
  • Identify weld defects
  • Be proficient in using various hand tools
  • Knowledge of numbers and dimensions

  • Able to work in a team environment and able to also work independently
  • Punctual, Responsible, Dependable, no absenteeism
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, perform repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds, overhead reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling
  • Possess effective communication and organizational skills; English read, write, speak

RESPONSIBILITIES, however not limited to:

  • Check equipment for all safety precautions and will wear his protective gear as per required for the job
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as ARC gas metal arc GMAW, Flux-cored arc FAW, shielded metal arc SMAW
  • MIG/TIG processing in all positions
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate Brazing and soldering equipment
  • Operate metal sharpening machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment
  • May adjust welding head and tooling according to work specifications
  • Maintains and cleans up around his station upon completion of work
  • Reports to Plant Manager and/or General Manager

  • Work as a team member, assisting coworkers, thereby maintaining production rates and quality requirements, as well as a safe working environment
  • Assist in training new employees when required
  • Observe safety procedures at all times, staying up to date with ISO and FDA regulations and reporting any potential issues to management
  • Maintain clean work station and equipment, ensuring excellent working condition at the start and finish of each shift. Notify Supervision of any that are missing or not functioning properly
  • Use and wear the protective clothing and equipment at all times: Welding helmet and gloves, Safety shoes with CSA tag, safety glasses (wide and clear on front and sides), hearing protection (in required areas)
  • Other duties as assigned
COMPENSATION AND SHIFT
  • Hourly wage rate will depend on weld test results - to be discussed at that time
  • Steady days: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (possible longer shifts until 5:30 pm - must be flexible/flexible)
