Job Description

***DIRECT HIRE***

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 5+ year's experience with Heidenhain Controls
  • 5+ year experience as CNC machinist
  • Intermediate understanding of CNC programming, able to program on the machine from the drawing
  • Able to read and interpret drawings
  • Understanding of the metric measurement system
  • Required to use own your tools
  • Able to use hand and power tools on the shop floor
  • Overhead crane experience
  • Operating CNC machines, Mills, Vertical and Horizontal
  • Operating CNC Lathes
  • Previous experience with lathes, mills, grinders, gun-drills heat treating, multi axis CNC
  • Full understanding and knowledge of machine controls, tools and work offsets
  • Capable to use measuring and inspection tools
  • Capable to determine the amounts of material needed and to measure pieces to determine that the size meets the specifications
  • Able to read computer-generated profile to adjust the tooling appropriately
  • Able to setup parts on the machine, and able to setup tools Capable of setting priorities for all set-ups

  • Punctual, Responsible, Dependable, no absenteeism
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, perform repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds, overhead reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling
  • Possess excellent communication skills (English; read, write, speak) to interact with supervisors, to take direction on job assignments, to seek clarification on unclear drawings or job instructions and to seek help when problems arise. Interact with co-workers, including mechanics, welders and machinists, to exchange tips about methods and procedures, to relay new information and safety precautions, to receive instructions or to instruct others how to perform new jobs.
  • Ability to work independently. When needed, be a part of a team which includes mechanics, welders, machinists, fellow operators and management to co-ordinate efforts to ensure that machines are used efficiently and work priorities are well managed.
  • Possess problem solving skills to decide when to reset a machine if it is not cutting within tolerance levels, and how to adjust or to change machine settings to improve the quality of pieces; decide how to set pieces up when making irregularly shaped pieces; decide how much material is needed to make parts

EDUCATION

  • Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent required
  • Machine license an asset, or equivalent combination of education and experience
SHIFTS
  • Able to rotate every 2 weeks with Day and Afternoon shifts
  • Able to work overtime and weekends
    Afternoon shifts has a $1.00 shift premium

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • There will be a probation period of 3 months (90 days) probation period
  • Vacation pay for hourly employees is accrued at a rate of 4%
  • Benefits; You will be enrolled in the benefits package for hourly employees. This includes health, dental, vision, etc., coverage
  • After the first 12 months you will be enrolled in the company pension plan for which you receive a 2% company match on the contributions that you make.
  • The company has a voluntary RRSP fund that would be open for you to contribute to at your own discretion after an initial 3 month period
