  • Hourly wage is based on employment history, work experience, skills and weld test results
  • Minimum hourly starting rate of a welder is $20.00
  • Minimum hourly starting rate of a welder/fitter is $23.00
  • Day/Afternoon rotation, 2 weeks each
  • Possible steady shifts open
  • Possible mandatory Saturdays
  • Overtime pay is after 40 hours per week


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of Welder/Fitter work experience with steel and aluminum: MIG welding in all positions
  • Valid CWB Certifications is an asset
  • Able to operate equipment for cutting, brazing, soldering, sharpening, fusing, bending
  • Able to verify dimensions, and alter dimensions to fit specifications
  • Strong reading and interpreting job specifications, blueprints, weld symbols, engineering or design drawings and schematics in both first and third angle projection
  • A proven competency and strength in mathematics
  • Knowledge of weld defects
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, perform repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds, overhead reaching, bending over, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling
  • Ability to effectively communicate, read, write and speak in English

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow manufacturing procedures and work instructions
  • Interpret drawings and weld symbols
  • Operate welding equipment and plan a sequence of welding operations; Lay out, position, align and secure the details to be welded
  • Use arc or flame cutting equipment to shape metal components to the specified dimensions or to repair damaged metal components
  • Finish the fabricated component filing, grinding or scraping
  • Wear personal perfective equipment (PPE) at all time, this includes steel toes CSA safety shoes, safety glasses
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

  • Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent is required
  • Completed Apprentice Program and Certification in the trade by the Province of Ontario or equivalent would be an asset
