Boring Mill Operator

Set-up and operate boring mill by reading and interpreting CAD data, setting up and securing work pieces and tooling, verifying machine systems and tool sequence, setting cutting tools, programming to CAD data, machining work piece, checking finished work pieces, de-burring and prepping for assembly.

Use of skills in blueprint reading, material preparation, use of machine shop equipment, finishing of details, and all other tasks related to the manufacturing of all machine components.

Plan and organize the production of molds by reading and interpreting engineering drawings, performing mold-related calculations; producing component sketch and dimensional chart; verifying work piece material; identifying and selecting tool steels; and establishing and organizing the mold-building process.

Major Duties:

  • To work in a clean, safe and organized manner, as outlined in the Health and Safety Program; this includes crane training and use, as well as material handling
  • Operate and use machine shop CNC equipment for manufacturing all machine components
  • Use all measuring and checking skills to verify that all machined components are correct to blueprints/CAD drawings
  • Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Arrives to work, meetings and other work related functions on time and as scheduled.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Knowledge of machining equipment, including Heidenhain and Fanuc; also including milling, overhead cranes and forklifts. Strong mechanical problem solving and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure to maintain production scheduling deadlines. Grade 12 O.S.S.D. or equivalent. Must possess own tools for daily tasks (ex. micrometers, verniers, indicators, etc.)
