Job Description

SKILLS

  • Must have 310T
  • DZ and/or AZ license an asset
  • Experience working on Winter Operations equipment such as plow trucks, combo units, salting and pre-wetting systems, and tow plows an asset
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Sound knowledge of heavy equipment, truck, and auto repair and maintenance
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Good working knowledge of safe work place conduct, safe material handling procedures, safe operation of machinery and personal protective equipment
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to work overtime, evenings and weekends as required by project needs
  • First Aid/CPR Certification an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with Shop Manager for Job Duties
  • Perform repairs as directed
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed
  • Assist in fabrication of new equipment/new builds as directed
  • Perform maintenance and/or repairs on all miscellaneous equipment
  • Properly test equipment after repairs
  • Purchase parts as needed to complete repairs in a cost effective manner
  • Reorder parts efficiently for restocking and warranty purposes
  • Use and maintain shop tools in a proper manner (as if they were your own)
  • Shop Organization and Cleanliness
  • Keep a clean and safe environment
  • On-Call Mechanic - when on-call, make after hour repairs as needed and directed
  • Fill out all required forms/paperwork as directed
  • Follow shop rules and regulations properly
  • Maintain a positive and harmonious working environment

EDUCATION

  • Completion of college and/or vocational/technical training
