Job Description

Our Automation and Assembly client is looking to fill several TEMPORARY positions for Certified Pipefitters AND Pipefitter Apprentices!
This project will run from mid August to Mid September of 2019.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Licensed/certified Pipefitter
  • Apprentices must be currently enrolled or have completed education in a recognized college/university or trades school for Pipefitting
  • Able to thread pipe and bend pipe using appropriate machine and tools
  • Able to assemble/install metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic
  • Able to connect pipes using threaded, caulking, soldering, brazing, fusing, or cemented joints, and hand tools
  • Able to secure pipes with brackets, clamps, and hangers
  • Self-motivated team player that possess effective continuous learning, attention to detail, communication, analytical and organizational skills; English read, write, speak
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and in a team environment
  • Punctual, Responsible, Dependable, no absenteeism
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, perform repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds, overhead reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems
  • Apply knowledge of system operation, and following blueprints: Select type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications
  • Inspect work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness
  • Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers
  • Cut pipe using saw, pipe cutter, hammer & chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine
  • Assemble and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic
  • Connects pipe, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints, and handtools
  • Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using handtools and power tools
  • Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment, such as pumps and cylinders, using handtools.
  • Install and maintain compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping using handtools and power tools, and following specifications and blueprints
  • Increase pressure in pipe system and observes connected pressure gauge to test system for leaks
  • Weld pipe supports to structural steel members
  • Observe production machines in assigned area of manufacturing facility to detect machinery malfunctions.
  • Designated according to type of system installed as Pipe Fitter, Ammonia; Pipe Fitter, Fire-Sprinkler Systems; Pipe Fitter, Gas Pipe; or type of piping used as Pipe Fitter, Plastic Pipe; Pipe Fitter, Soft Copper
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

  • Currently enrolled in or have completed education in a recognized college/university or trades school for Pipefitter
  • Completion of Secondary School Education

SHIFTS

  • Day and Afternoon, possible steady however MIGHT be rotational

WAGE

  • $20.00 - $32.00 per hours, plus 4% vacation pay
  • Weekly pay via direct deposit
