Job Description

AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN 310S/TRUCK & COACH TECHNICIAN 310T - "DIRECT HIRE POSITION" AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY

Licensed mechanic (310S/310T) maintains diesel equipment (pick up trucks, heavy duty equipment & left trucks) operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. May be called upon to operate other equipment or engage in activities as the Company sees fit.

EDUCATION:

Secondary school graduate, OSSD, or Ontario recognized equivalent

SKILLS:

Valid 310S Automotive Service Technician License & 310T Truck & Coach Mechanic/Technician License
Minimum 2 years related experience in vehicle maintenance preferred
Ability to operate all necessary shop equipment
Must be able to function with technical drawings for equipment, electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic
Must hold and provide a copy of a valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver's License
Knowledge of truck and equipment safety and equipment standard and procedures
Knowledge of operation of front end loaders, dozers, lift trucks and other pieces of heavy equipment
Knowledge of record keeping systems
Pass pre-employment medical/criminal background check

RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnose and repair all vehicle systems, including electrical, emission, transmission, engine, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulic and pneumatic
Respond to all equipment breakdown, in a timely manner, based on priority systems
Determine vehicle conditions by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules and repairs as necessary
Comply with federal and provincial vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety and combustion control standards
Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications
Comply with Safety & Health regulations in the workplace.
