We have a client looking to hire people for a Full Time Welder Fitter in Windsor


  • 5+ years of WELDER/FITTER WORK experience with steel and aluminum: MIG welding in all positions in all positions
  • Valid CWB Certifications is an asset
  • Able to operate equipment for cutting, brazing, soldering, sharpening, fusing, bending
  • Able to verify dimensions, and alter dimensions to fit specifications
  • Strong reading and interpreting job specifications, blueprints, weld symbols, engineering or design drawings and schematics in both first and third angle projection
  • A proven competency and strength in mathematics
  • An understanding of weld defects identification
  • A knowledge of, and familiarity with, 5 WHY'S, quality assurance methods and best practices, including GD&T
  • All employees will have to have an excellent attendance record as well. No missed time will be permitted.
  • Ability to perform in high paced environments and maintain attention to detail
  • Able to work in a team environment and able to also work independently
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, perform repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds, overhead reaching, bending over, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling
  • Possess effective communication and organizational skills; English read, write, speak


  • Follow established manufacturing procedures and work instructions with respect all assigned work functions and activities, inclusive of control plans, weld symbols, SAP documentation, weld process sheets (WPS) and completed routing travels
  • View and interpret drawings and weld symbols, inclusive of a familiarity with and understanding of GD&T standards
  • Select the welding equipment required and plan a sequence of welding operations through the use of knowledge related to the physical properties of metals, the effects of heat on metal, weld shrinkage, shop mathematics and welding techniques
  • Lay out, position, align and secure the details to be welded using measuring and scribing devices, clamps and tacked welds
  • Use arc or flame cutting equipment to shape metal components to the specified dimensions or to repair damaged metal components
  • Finish the fabricated component filing, grinding or scraping
  • Inspect welded details for imperfections or fissures in the weld, using weld gauges and weld defect analysis, and to make repairs as required, before moving the product out of the work station or process
  • Adhere to the prescribed communication protocol and to inform the Shift Leader or the Manufacturing Supervisor of all issues or concerns related to or affecting the safe and efficient fabrication operation, inclusive of but not limited to non-conforming conditions
  • Complete a formal and document “Five Why” root cause analysis on all non-conforming conditions or occurrences and report the same with transparency along with corrective action recommendations, to prevent a recurrence, to the Manufacturing Supervisor
  • Monitor and maintain the fabrication equipment as relative to general cleanliness and scheduled maintenance
  • Maintain and clean up around station upon completion of work
  • Use, wear and maintain the protective clothing and equipment at all times: Welding helmet and gloves, Safety shoes with CSA tag, safety glasses (wide and clear on front and sides), hearing protection (in required areas)
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent is required
  • Completed Apprentice Program and Certification in the trade by the Province of Ontario or equivalent would be an asset


  • $25-$30 an hour - Hourly wage is based on experience, skills and weld test results - plus 4% vacation pay while a MODERN Staffing employee, paid weekly via direct deposit.
  • Overtime pay after 44 hours


  • On-going 40+ hours per week
  • Steady Day shift
  • Possible mandatory or voluntary Saturdays
  • Overtime hours must be approved by assigned company prior to working it
