Job Summary: Supports the day-to-day safety and operational functions at the EV battery manufacturing facility as a Logistics Safety worker. Assists with the implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols. Tracks incident reports and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Plays a key role in operational coordination, employee training support and development, and documentation of procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities: · Assist in monitoring safety compliance on the production floor, warehouse, and loading areas · Support the preparation and coordination of safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments · Maintain safety records; training logs, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and PPE Inventory. · Report and document incidents, near-misses, and hazards; assist with investigations · Help coordinate emergency drills and ensure first kits and signage are up to date · Collaborate with the operations team to document SOPs and best practices · Provide admin support for safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives · Assist with ordering and distributing safety supplies and materials · Take daily attendance for both regular and temporary employees; monitor patterns and escalate concerns as needed · Maintain accurate attendance documentation and generate weekly reports for management follow-up · Maintain accurate attendance reports for temp agency employees. Send weekly reports to agency for follow-up · Act as a key member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), participating in meetings and inspections. · Provide warehouse-related safety communication and recommendations to support the implementation of best practices across operations
Additional Responsibilities: · Complete daily safety meeting with all staff · Complete daily forklift checklist – sign and file in appropriate folders · Ensure daily safety meeting sign-off is complete · Get daily QTY (R-pack, Cell QTY, Cell Dunnage QTY) · Scan BOL’s at end of shift and upload to system · Complete daily safety performance checklist and upload to system · Complete pre-work checklist, scan and upload to Daily Report Folder · Support and provide Health and Safety information during MOL visits or inspection · Complete required safety training for new hires and existing employees. · Maintain new hire certificates and documentation. Complete monthly audits to ensure all training records are accurate and up to date. · Complete safety spot training after an incident. Document training and record in safety training system.
Skills & Qualifications: · High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is an asset. · Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in safety, operations, or admin support (manufacturing preferred) · Strong understanding of OHSA, WHMIS, and other occupational health and safety standards · Proficient in MS Office and safety management systems · Excellent organizational and communication skills · First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certification preferred · Comfortable working on the warehouse floor with PPE and safety equipment · Must be able to work rotating shifts (days/afternoons/nights as required) · Forklift certification preferred
Employment Type: · Contract assignment through temp agency – shift based work. · Warehouse and production floor environment with exposure to industrial machinery, noise, and temperature variations · Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods during shift.
